ABOUT US

testStrat and Doreen Goodhue were both born and raised in Hawai'i. They both tried to eat food that was somewhat healthy and exercised sometimes. (Strat surfed and Doreen jogged.) Strat went to college at San Diego State University, Hawai'i Loa College, Orange Coast College and the University of Hawai'i but never sought a degree. Doreen attended Windward Community College and got an AA degree in 1996.

They moved from Hawai'i to Texas in 2000 where they both were working mostly sitting in front of computer screens. After about eight years they had both put on a few pounds and were no longer the picture of health that they once were.  Strat had high cholesterol. Doreen had struggled with a weak immune system since childhood. (You can read more of Strat's health specifics on the "Success Stories" web page.)

During a visit to a doctor (who mentioned that he believes western medicine is great at diagnosing illnesses but terrible at treating them), the physician made a comment about a book titled, The China Study. That moment was a turning point for Strat and Doreen. They got a copy of The China Study and read it. They were amazed. How come nobody ever told them that stuff? The evidence for the benefits of a plant-based diet is tremendous. Americans are trying to watch their fat intake, counting calories, making sure they are getting enough protein, trying not to eat too many carbs, too much sugar and too much white flour- and then they are still getting heart disease, cancer, having strokes, reactions to medications, and getting Alzheimer's, Diabetes and auto-immune diseases. Something is wrong!

And what is wrong (primarily) is what we eat. Chronic illnesses kill most Americans. These "western diseases" (also known as "diseases of affluence") are almost unheard of in rural areas of countries where peoples' diets consist mostly of plant-based foods (with a little meat and dairy occasionally), and they were hardly heard of in American history until the age of factory farming of animals.

Strat and Doreen made a few changes to their diet and their health was dramatically improved. (For more details, check out the Success Stories section of this website.)

As a result, Strat continued to educate himself through reading books and eventually getting a certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from eCornell University, through the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies. He is also a certified Health Coach through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute.

Doreen has always had a love for cooking and with her passion for a whole food, plant-based diet, she has been able to create delicious, nutritious meals that can help add years to one's life.

Strat and Doreen have helped a number of people with their health and they now are committed to helping as many people as they can to achieve and maintain health and vitality.
